Youth Olympic Games

altThe first ever Youth Olympic Games will take place in Singapore.

Uganda is previlaged to be part of the countries that will participate in these Games. The Sports to be participated in include Athletics, Badminton, Swimming and Weightlifting. All participate in these Games should have, for the youngest, thier 14th birthday before 1st January 2010, for the oldest , their 19th birthday after 31st December 2010. The Youth Olympic Games Qualification System Principles were created and these lie under universality, performance, host country representation and gender equality.

Opening date: 06 August 2010
Closing date: 26 August 2010

3,600* young athletes between 14 and 18 years of age
800* officials
205 National Olympic Committees
800* media representatives
20,000* local and international volunteers
500,000* spectators

26 sports and culture & education programmes

Uganda free from ebola
Director General of health services Dr. D. K. Lwamafa confirmed safety of the country and that there is currently no travel ban in any part of the country, including Kibaale district which was the epicenter of the outbreak.


 Crime rate continues to fall

Crime, traffic and Road Safety reports indicate a reduction in crime rate in the country. Police registered a 3.8 percent further reduction in crime rate in the country.
