THE Uganda Olympic Committee has set May 21 as the date for their differed assembly. The assembly in Kampala is expected to study the committee's financial report and also hear from a new probe report into the mismanagement of activities prior and during the New Delhi Commonwealth Games.

The first assembly early in the year gave the executive 60 days to investigate the assocition's finances and probe officials who led the national team to Delhi. That same assembly had a vote of no confidence in treasurer Geno Omala, and as questions were being asked, led to the resignations of the two Vice presidents Wilson Tumwine- who was the New Delhi chief de mission, and Abbey Mugerwa, the general team manage.

UOC secretary Peninah Kabenge has confirmed that the assembly will take place at the Makerere University, Economic Policy Research Centre and will have the two items on the agenda.“We will be discussing the report and the financial reports. These are the elements that were differed during the first assembly,” she said.

A committee led by lawyer Kavuma Kabenge, Michael Mungoma, Moustapha Mwesigye, Mary Musoke and Rose Acayo were nominated to replace the first one, whose report the assembly threw out and said was wanting.The first probe committee was led by G eoffrey Kihuguru with secretary Christopher Mugisa and Raphael Bwire.

The assembly also called on the executive to finalise a well explained report and find a way of recovering the funds that were misused.
