$5000 for London gold medal

Preparations for the London 2012 Olympics received a boost in October 2011 when Uganda Olympic Committee president Rogers Ddungu set the pace by staking $5,000 (sh14m) for every gold medal won at the games. The president's gesture is supposed to spur Ugandan sportsment to train harder, and encourage sponsors and the corporate world to join in creating an Olympic 2012 fund to support the team. The games are due in London in July next year.

Uganda free from ebola
Director General of health services Dr. D. K. Lwamafa confirmed safety of the country and that there is currently no travel ban in any part of the country, including Kibaale district which was the epicenter of the outbreak.


 Crime rate continues to fall

Crime, traffic and Road Safety reports indicate a reduction in crime rate in the country. Police registered a 3.8 percent further reduction in crime rate in the country.
