Handball

Handball was introduced in Uganda in 1971 by Mr. Onegi Nicholas P’Minga. The Uganda Handball Federation governs the sport in Uganda with an objective of spreading it (Handball)  all over the country. The Federation is affiliated to sports bodies such as International Handball Federation (IHF) 1976, African Handball Confederation (CAHB), Commonwealth Handball Association (CHA), Supreme Council of Sports in Africa (Zone 5),  East and Central Africa Handball Federation (ECAHF), 1985, Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) and the National Council of Sports                                                      

 Presidents as from 1986 to date are:

1.     Mr. Kaweere Tom                      from 1971         to         1978

2.     Mr. Olea John                           from 1978         to         1982

3.     Mr. Oloka W J Gabriel               from 1982         to         1986

4.     Miss Sheila Agonzibwa              from 1986         to         2001

5.     Mr. Walugembe Musoke            from 2001         to         2003

6.     Mr. Badru Ssentongo                from 2003         to         2005

7.     Hajji Abbey Mubiru                    from 2005         to         2007

8.     Hajji Abbey Mubiru                    from 2007         to         2011


Member clubs are;

1.     Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (Men and Women),

2.     Uganda Police Force (Men and Women),

3.     Uganda Prisons Service (Men and Women),

4.     Air Force (Men), 

5.     Makerere University (Men and Women),

6.     Ndejje University (Men and Women)

7.     Nkumba University (Men and Women)

8.     Kampala International University (Men)

9.     Kyambogo University (Men)

 Different Competitions are;

1.     National League for affiliated clubs

2.     National University Championships

3.     National Secondary Schools Championships

4.     National Primary Schools Championship

5.     Uganda Handball Day Cup

6.     District Schools competitions

7.     National Novice Championships

8.     Inter – Forces Handball Championship

Uganda free from ebola
Director General of health services Dr. D. K. Lwamafa confirmed safety of the country and that there is currently no travel ban in any part of the country, including Kibaale district which was the epicenter of the outbreak.


 Crime rate continues to fall

Crime, traffic and Road Safety reports indicate a reduction in crime rate in the country. Police registered a 3.8 percent further reduction in crime rate in the country.
